Ahoy! The Stones Hit Rotterdam:
Review by Blue Lena
After seeing the Rotterdam Stadium show at De Kuip and
loving it, I was definitely looking forward to the Ahoy arena show. We had great
seats on Keith’s side, a few rows up from the floor, so the view was perfect.
Monkey Man was the first song in the set to get me excited, then right into
Sweet Virginia, Loving Cup and Rocks Off-which for all three of those Exile
tracks I went mad. Keith did his usual set, and then interestingly they chose to
do Love Train, upon which they lost more than half the crowd. I don’t think
the European audiences know that song like the American ones do, and it didn’t
go over well from where I sat. Then on Can’t You Hear Me Knocking near the end
of the song after Ronnie finished his solo, I don’t know what happened, but
the song just ended! Too soon for sure, and Ronnie said something to Charlie and
everyone in the band just kind of looked at each other and we started laughing
about it. It just stopped dead. I was disappointed by the B-stage numbers, it
would have been nice to have something more unique. So overall, it was a great
arena show, and I had a blast, but it didn’t compare to other arena shows
I’ve seen this tour.
