superb show, a very hot show - the band gave it all and the aircondition nothing.
Among the people were many known people from Germany, as well as our secretary
Massimo Bonanno, who will give his report soon.

Review from
Massimo Bonanno:
What a show! What a set list! What a band!
I have no words to describe such amazing show, quite honestly I did not expect
anything like that. I arrived at the Circus later in the afternoon, soon was
admitted in, the atmosphere was already electric. Rumours circulating reported
either David Bowie or Jimmy Page as guest stars. They did not show up and quite
frankly the Stones did not need them for they were going to deliver one of the
most sensational concerts (if not the most sensational) I have ever attended.
They
appeared on stage at at
9.35 and immediately Jumpin’Jack Flash
opened the show, followed by an electric Tumbling Dice. Ronnie played a great solo on All Down The Line, then Mick grabbed an acoustic guitar and started
singing Sweet Virginia. It was
already clear that the boys were in a very good form. Then the first gem of the
night: Mick sits behind the electric piano and starts singing Worried
About You in a fantastic falsetto, so mighty. Then he left the piano and
continues singing on stage and he really sings sooo well tonight, such intensity!
But
surprises
are not over as Stray Cat Blues
follows, a great version, the boys hammer the audience with a truly powerful
sound and Daryl Jones plays a dazzling solo. The Stones remind us of the black
roots of their music as they play Everybody
Needs Somebody To Love, followed by a funky Dance
Pt1, and by a wonderful and dramatic That’s
How Strong My Love Is, their first tribute of the night to Otis Redding.
Mick sings beautifully, his energy is amazing, rarely I have heard him singing
like tonight, simply spectacular. Before the number Mick reminds us that the
Rolling Stones played the Circus Krone several years before.
Going
To A Go Go closes
the first half of the show, but we do get another totally unexpected surprise
during the band’s introductions, in fact, for the very fist time in decades
Charlie speaks on the microphone! He says “Thank you very much” and
something else which I am unable to understand. Then it’s Keith turn and
taking everyone by surprise he gives a splendid and moving rendition of the 1941
Carmichael
classic The
Nearess Of You. Never I have heard Keith singing with such tender
and impeccable intensity. Great, simply great. Keith closes his segment
with Before They Make Me Run. It’s
Only Rock’n’Roll is followed by an amazing Can’t
You Hear Me Knocking, featuring great solos by Bobby Keys, Mick on harp and
especially Ronnie. Terrific. Mick amazes everyone as both his singing and
energy are undiminished during Honky Tonk
Women, Start Me Up and Brown Sugar.
He definitely is the best rock’n’roll entertainer of the past 50 years!
(Sorry Elvis!).
The
encore is just another surprise, the second tribute of the night to Otis Redding:
I Can’t Turn You Loose. As the song
ends, the Stones seems to be leaving the stage, but Charlie re-starts again and
the whole band follows. Then the number seems to finish, but once again Charlie
re-starts it and the band follows. The Rolling Stones re start once more the
number before leaving the stage at
11.25 pm
and
leaving us fans breathless. It’s been an unforgettable show, a fantastic
evening. Thank you Stones!

Review
from Jutta:
«Willkommen im Circus Krone»: Short time before 10pm Mick Jagger is on the
stage, a Stones concert of the rare are about to start in almost a sauna, with
around 40 degrees celcius. Already after two songs, mostly for an audience of
older concert visitors, Rezzo Schlauch (Green politician of Germany) is clapping
his hands and waving his arms towards the stage. You quickly realise, that this
evening it is NOT the light or effects that counts, but only the music in this
special club show.
And naturally the ever-young «Go-go-Boy» of Rock'n'Roll: The never tired
Mick Jagger who soon is 60 years old, is running, marching across the stage, as
almost nobody else in his age should be able to.
Also the old tricks still works, he throw his towels down to the audience,
and take a drink of his bottle of water. and threw the bottle to the people.
The strongest moments are when the band turns nostalgic. With Everybody Needs
Somebody To Love, Thats How Strong My Love Is and the never played song on a
show Nearness Of You are played.
An incredible show - the only this I miss, the show was so short, club shows
are shorter than stadium shows, but we would have been cooked otherwise in this
famous old Circus Krone building.
