Villa Nellcote
The photos on this site were taken in 1971 by Dominique Tarlé - and the
photos in color are taken 1991 on same place by Isabelle Duneau.
The history of the Villa:
In 1899, a former banker, Eugene Thomas, makes this villa build, an imposing villa whose frontage is decorated
with ionic columns out of marble. It then bears the name of "Amicitia castle".
In 1919, this villa, from now on baptized "Nellcote", is acquired by the Bordes
family, a famous ship-owners family having a shipping company specialized in the transport of soda nitrate between Chile and
France.
It is still the Bordes family who is the owner of the beautiful Nellcote
villa in Villefrance-sur-Mer.
The
Intrance:
The beautiful intrance to the huge garden in the
silent area of Villefrance-sur-Mer, keeps people out from the garden and the
house. It is possible to view into the garden and up to the house, but the
best view is actually from the beach a few steps further and down of the stairs
to the harbour. Around 5 years ago I visited this place first time together
with my friend Massimo Bonanno, the editor of Stones Chronicles and Endless
Disease. It was amazing to be there for the first time, and feel all the vibes
still in the area from 1971. Later I visited again with my son, and now here
in Spring 2004 we have been there again. It is still amazing.
Nellcote
Villa - did you ever visit it?
If you have been here, did you find it, and what is your impressions? We
would love to share your memories with other fans, so please send it along to us.
A photo is welcome of course.
Due to the neighbours and the good relationship we now have build up here -
we are not able to give you a more specific address, but with the photos
included and the description it is not so difficult to find it. All photos are
clickable. Enjoy Charlotte PS! Don't forget to visit the nearby chapel of
Saint Michel - here Anita Pallenberg spent many visits, while the atmosphere
were too rough in the villa for her and the kids.
