Quick one from Blue Lena
+ Chicago 25.1. review
I just got home from Chicago and tomorrow I am off to Miami. We had a great
time at the Chicago shows. They were tough on cameras, so no photos from the
Stones shows. Wednesday nights show was definitely a great one (and we were in
the front row on Keith's side, which always makes things better) and much
better than Monday's show. Read more here about the
visit in Chicago and the Tim Ries show.

Announcement:
Our deepest sympathy from Stones Planet to Tim Ries on the loss of his Mother
Tim Ries, saxophonist/keyboardist
for the Rolling Stones, sent the following message and thanks those fans who
have expressed their condolences on the passing of his mother.
“My father played the trumpet and when he died 16 years ago, we set up a
scholarship to help music students attend a summer music camp. Most attended
Interlochen where I went as a child. My parents both loved it there. My mom
passed away on Sunday night late at 1:15AM. She was an amazing lady. Her
funeral was quite beautiful with great music and singing and memories shared."
"My mother always worried that the scholarship fund was getting low so in
lieu of flowers donations will gladly be accepted to the scholarship fund. I
play a concert every year and all proceeds go to the fund. Here is the info
where people can send checks for my mother and father."

Almost two million people are expected at a free Rolling Stones gig in Rio de

"This is the biggest live show that has ever occurred in the

But Saturday's crowd may not be as big as that at Rod Stewart's 1994 concert,
also at Copacabana beach, which drew a crowd of 3.5 million. Read more here

Chris Jagger's Atcha! are releasing their third album 'Act of
Faith' on S.P.V's Blue label in March 2006.
Atcha!, described as 'gumbo blues' by Observer critic Stuart Nicholson,
deliver their most mature and compelling album to date. The new album comes
after a year of club and festival appearances that included the Marlborough
Jazz Festival, Glastonbury Festival and numerous European festivals.
'Act of Faith' follows two previous, acclaimed recordings, Rock The
Zydeco (a.k.a Atcha!, released on Sequel Records, UK, and Curb Records,
USA) and Channel Fever (Latent Talent). Spearheaded by Chris's
wry, often poignant songwriting, the new album clearly cements the band's
position amongst the finest exponents of earthy swamp blues, cajun and
roots-rock.
Not only does the new album feature new slants on the hard driving cajun rockers
and growling blues that are the band's trademark, but it reaches deep into
slippery New Orleans funk with '15% Extra Free' and swinging country/zydeco on
'Got Me Where you Want Me' featuring the great singer Sam Brown.
'DJ Blues' is the first duet ever recorded by Chris and Mick
Jagger, and the desolate haunting 'Junkman', one of Chris' greatest
songs, features an unforgettable atmospheric guitar cameo from David
Gilmour.

Chris Jagger acoustic guitar, harp, occasional washboard and

Wembley workes evacuated after roof incident
from Reuters: Some 3,500 workers at the troubled Wembley stadium were
evacuated on Monday after a loud bang was heard and part of the roof dropped a
metre, the contractor and a labour union said.
"Something serious has occurred at Wembley but we do not know yet what
has happened. Luckily no one has been injured," the GMB union's Tom Kelly
said.
A spokesman for the Australian company building Wembley, Multiplex, said all
workers had been evacuated and an investigation was under way.
The redevelopment of the site in northwest London has been dogged with
problems, with the English Football Association forced to transfer May's FA Cup
final to Cardiff's Millennium Stadium after it decided Wembley would not be
ready on time.
That decision was a major embarrassment to the FA who had hoped to return the
showpiece event back to Wembley, which hosted Cup finals between 1923 and 2000,
after five years in the Welsh capital.
The original Wembley, probably the most famous football stadium in the world,
was demolished in 2000.
The new stadium will be straddled by an arch, instead of the previous twin
towers. The GMB said the section affected on Monday was where one end of the
arch met the roof.

Rolling Stones' Richards suffers concussion
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards suffered a concussion while on
vacation in Fiji and is recovering, a spokeswoman said on Saturday.
Richards, 62, was treated locally then flown to a hospital outside of
Fiji as a precaution, Rolling Stones spokeswoman Fran Curtis said.
Curtis said Richards suffered a mild concussion earlier in the week. She
said she did not know how it happened. He was still hospitalized on Saturday.
Along with lead singer Mick Jagger, Richards has been the backbone of the
Rolling Stones since the 1960s. His history of arrests and drug abuse in
younger years have given him the reputation as rock 'n' roll's ultimate
survivor.

Keith Richards leaves hospital
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- Keith Richards has been released from a New
Zealand hospital where the Rolling Stones guitarist was admitted with a head
injury after he reportedly fell out of a palm tree.
Richards, 62, suffered a mild concussion while on vacation in Fiji Thursday.
Several Australian and New Zealand media outlets reported the fall from the tree.
New Zealand's Sunday Star-Times also reported that Richards got on a Jet Ski
after the fall and had another accident.
Richards was treated in a Fiji hospital before being airlifted to Auckland's
Ascot Hospital for observation. It was not immediately clear exactly when he was
released or where he went afterward.
"I can categorically confirm Mr. Richards ... is no longer a patient in
this hospital," hospital duty manager Geoff Sparks told The Associated
Press on Tuesday. "He has been discharged.

Last week Keith was under observation in Auckland following a fall in Fiji and

Rolling Stones down one member as Wood goes to booze clinic
London - The Rolling Stones' European tour appeared to be under renewed
threat on Wednesday as guitarist Ronnie Wood was admitted to a rehabilitation
clinic in London to undergo treatment for alcohol abuse.
The 59-year-old rock star hoped to be "returning home" in a couple of
weeks, his spokesperson said.
The Sun newspaper reported that Wood, who celebrated his 59th birthday on June
1, had been "overdoing it" lately as far as partying and alcohol
consumption were concerned.
The Stones plan to restart the European leg of their Bigger Bang tour in
Milan on July 11.
The tour dates have already been delayed due to band member Keith Richards'
recovery from brain surgery after falling out of a coconut tree while on holiday
in Fiji.
"He needs some rest but he will definitely be fit for the first night of
the European tour," said Wood's spokesperson

Rolling Stones to play only one Dutch concert
AMSTERDAM - The Rolling Stones have cancelled the second of their two concerts
in the Netherlands as a result of guitarist Keith Richards' infamous palm tree
accident.
Concert promoter Mojo said on Wednesday that the Stones will play the
Amsterdam ArenA on 31 July, a day after the date announced.
Attempts to find a new date for the second concert to fit into the band's
touring schedule failed and people with tickets for the 1 August show can get
their money back from the selling agent from Thursday 22 June.
A small number of tickets can be traded in for the concert the day before as
there were a few places left on Wednesday.
Tour was turned on its head literally when guitarist Keith Richards reportedly
fell out of a palm tree in Fiji at the end of April. He had an operation in
New Zealand to relieve pressure on his brain the following month.
He has been given the all-clear for the tour but several concerts had to be
postponed or cancelled. Meanwhile his fellow guitarist Ron Wood was admitted to
a recovery centre for alcohol addiction.
The Rolling Stones management said this would not influence the tour.

Paramount
rolls with Scorsese on Stones movie
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Paramount Pictures has bought North
American rights to the Rolling Stones documentary that Martin Scorsese is
currently shooting in New York.
The studio plans to release the as-yet-untitled film near the end of 2007.
Scorsese started filming Sunday during the Stones' performance at President
Clinton's celebrity-packed birthday bash at the Beacon Theater, and will also
film at the Manhattan venue Wednesday night.
The film will focus on the two concerts from the group's current "A
Bigger Bang" tour as well as historical and contemporary
behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. A recent concert in Austin, Texas,
was also filmed.
Veteran documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles, who captured the Stones in
the infamous 1970 movie "Gimme Shelter," also will provide backstage
coverage.
Scorsese is on a roll. His Boston gangster film "The Departed" --
featuring two Stones songs -- has scored with critics and audiences. It is
expected to be not only his highest-grossing film to date but also an Oscar
contender.
He previously directed the acclaimed music documentaries -- 1978's
"The Last Waltz," featuring the Band, and 2005's "No Direction
Home: Bob Dylan."
The Stones film is being financed by Hollywood producer Steve Bing, a
friend of the band's, and by Michael Cohl, the Stones' tour promoter since
1989.

Mick Jagger's father dies at 93
LONDON - The father of Rolling Stones frontman Mick
Jagger died of pneumonia Saturday, a spokesman for the singer said. He
was 93.
Joe Jagger, a former schoolteacher, was admitted to a hospital in Kingston,
Surrey, outside London, more than a week ago after falling in his home, the
spokesman said on condition of anonymity.
Mick Jagger, 63, who has been in the United States on the Stones' "A
Bigger Bang" tour, traveled to Britain Friday to see his father and flew
back to Las Vegas later the same day. He was to perform there Saturday night,
the spokesman said, adding that the show would go ahead as scheduled.
The spokesman said the Jagger family would not make any further comment. He
gave no details of Joe Jagger's funeral, saying only that it would be private.
Mick Jagger's mother, Eva, died in 2000. She and Joe Jagger had two children,
Mick and Chris.

Rolling Stones 'beat tour record'
The Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang tour is the 'top-grossing tour in
history', Billboard magazine has reported.
Since August 2005, the band have grossed $437m (£226m), playing 110 shows in
front of 3.5 million fans.
The Stones' success comes despite the tour being dogged by delays and
cancellations due to throat problems for lead singer Sir Mick Jagger, 63.
The tour was also postponed when guitarist Keith Richards fell from a tree
while on holiday in Fiji.
Earlier this month, the band postponed five concerts and cancelled what was
to be the final date of the tour in Honolulu, Hawaii, after Sir Mick was advised
to take four days off to help him recover from laryngitis.
Big name support
Sir Mick also returned briefly to the UK two weeks ago to spend time with his
father Joe Jagger, who was in hospital and later died aged 93 of pneumonia.
The Stones have been supported on tour by big names including Kanye West, Van
Morrison and Alice Cooper.
The band's tour record does not include a free concert in front of two
million fans on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in February.
Irish rock group U2 previously held the record for the top-grossing tour,
according to Billboard.
Their recent Vertigo tour grossed $377m (£195m).

Rolling
Stones A Bigger Bang Wraps Up In USA + Canada
After 71 American shows, the Rolling Stones A Bigger Bang tour is over for
the USA, with just one more to go, the final show of the world tour about to
conclude in Vancouver, Canada.
The Stones wrapped up the American leg of the tour last night in Los Angeles
at Dodger Stadium with special guest Bonnie Raitt who joined the band for a
dueling vocal with Mick Jagger of the country rock classic 'Dead Flowers'.
Keith Richards introduced another special guest at the show, Dr Andrew from
New Zealand who he called his "head doctor" pointing to his noggin and
referring to the surgeon who looked after him after his fall from a coconut tree
in New Zealand earlier this year.
This was my forth Stones show on the A Bigger Bang tour after having seen the
early days of the tour in San Francisco and covering the Australian leg in
Sydney and Melbourne. I must say that for these guys to pull off an event such
as this that has lasted well over a year after 40 years in the biz is incredible.
It scares me to wonder who will carry on the legacy of the stadium band if ever
they decide "no more".
The setlist was cut as the band came on late due to a road spill near LAX
which delayed the audience getting to the venue on time, but nonetheless, we
were still treated to 2 hours and 15 minutes of the greatest songs from the
greatest rock and roll band in the world.
And if that wasn't good enough, the pyrotechnics with the fireworks at the
start and finish and the Stones performing in a cloud of hell-driven smoke and
sparklers during 'Sympathy For The Devil' just sealed the deal.
Unlike a lot of bands of their caliber who do "a paint by numbers"
set list, The Stones made it interesting for the crowd, mixing up the set with
some lesser played songs. " This is the forth show in the Los Angeles area
on the A Bigger Bang tour and we are going to make it interesting for you"
Mick told the 70,000 + crowd. It was brilliant to hear 'She Was Hot', and Keith
doing 'You Got The Silver' and 'Connected'.
There were only two songs from 'A Bigger Bang', "Streets of Love"
and "Oh No Not You Again".
NOTE: For the time being there are NO official plans for any shows in 2007,
only rumours about the "missed shows" from 2006 will be played in May
and June next year
