Parken, Copenhagen
on Sunday, July 13th. 2003.There were about 47.000 tickets sold for the show - all sold out. The
Swedish group Hives tried to warm-up. The group is a punk rock band, and
according to the audience they were not that popular. Shame they will be playin'
at a couple of more shows in Sweden. Should have been better with Pretenders or
AC/DC or as in Helsinki ZZ TOP.
Set list:
Brown Sugar - Start Me Up - You Got Me Rocking - Don't Stop - Wild Horses - You
Can't Always Get What You Want - Midnight Rambler - Tumbling Dice - Slipping
Away - Happy - Sympathy For The Devil - Respectable - I Just Want To Make Love
To You - Street Fighting Man - Gimme Shelter - It's Only Rock'n'Roll - Honky Tonk Women - Jumpin' Jack
Flash - Satisfaction.
Waited
for 5 years, and then a big explosion in Parken
by Charlotte Schultz
July 29. 1998 was the Babylon Tour show in Copenhagen, so we have waited for
a long long time.
The show in Parken was announced as the biggest event ever there. And so it
was. We arrived direct from the Marriott Hotel after a couple of hours in the
bar, chatting about music, touring, prices, and we sat watching the people
bathing in the harbour of Copenhagen, while CNN with Dolly Parton were going on
the screens above the bar.
The atmosphere were hectic and lot of beer drinking and the smell of grilled
sausages met us outside Parken. We looked a little at the merchindise, and
suprised that they only have a few sizes of the clothes, there were absolute no
smaller sizes. Only XL, XXL - should be better than that. Also they sold stuff,
which they did not have actually, but was displayed. For instant a blimp with
the tongue. I managed to get the one displayed.
So after picking up the great VIP tickets we went around the building and
into the place for the coaches and limos to come, and then we went in for some
icecream and coffee.
At 8 pm the Hives went on the stage with a loud and noisy music of punk rock
which I do not like at all, neither did the most of the audience. So after 40
minutes of them, we were eager to see the band.
The stage set-up were changed and just before 10 pm the band entered the
stage with Brown sugar, a full explosion of music, light and atmosphere. The
acoustic of the stadion was good at the right finger of the stage, there we were.
I am still impressed how much energy there is in Mick, he is 60 years on July
26th. Isn't it marvellous? His skin is rather grey, but so it is for most
British people. Between the numbers Mick spoke quite good Danish actually.
After You Can't Always Get What You Want - he commented that we felt well,
with super duper.
The introduce again showed how big popularity Charlie is having in Denmark. The
people asked for more and more, and he was almost shy of the enthusiasmn from
the audience.
A new song played was Respectable on B-stage. It was a fantastic one.
The B-stage is a great idea, also to show - that Stones can do more than just be
on a big stage. Here they show so near you - that we can talk about a huge show.
No other bands can show up the same at all.
The big screen on the back is not so good as before, and specially people
sitting near to stage on left or right side, have problems watching that. Also
the spot lights on stage gives you a problem watching everything properly.
Keith and Ron have been mentioned in several rumours on different places not
being in shape. But reality is something else. Never have Keith and Ron been in
such a good shape. They both did very well, so did Charlie and Mick.
Looking forward for the more intimate now in Globen and the ultra intimate in
Cirkus.
Expressen,
Stockholm review:
This is the
absolute only review not praising the Stones, and with wrong information. Too
bad from Sweden.
i går.
himmel.
Musikaliskt består showens första timme övervägande
av seg boogie och stentrist blues. "Tumbling dice" funkar visserligen
