PHILADELPHIA SHOWS

Having a break after seeing 5 shows of the No Security Tour in ten days, I must say that I’m really impressed.

The last 2 shows in Philadelphia were great! Monday night I had a good spot at the edge of Ronnie’s side of the stage. The crowd went nuts when they showed the Stones entering the arena on the video screens.

Then suddenly there was Keith playing this famous "Bill Wyman riff" of "Jumpin’ Jack Flash."

The second song was an outstanding version of "Bitch". They seemed to have switched "Respectable" and "You Got Me Rocking", because the "You Got Me Rocking" song came first.

"Honky Tonk Women" was next and every one was singing and dancing along. Then they played "Moonlight Mile" and I liked it the way it was played. Very very good! The crowd loved "Saint Of Me and Paint It Black". And "Some Girls" came out well, too.

During the band introductions Keith showed to be very happy with Ronnie’s playing because he kissed Ronnie...

For one moment I thought Charlie was the favourite, but then the audience made Keith beat him with louder and longer cheers. They chanted "Keith, Keith, Keith"!

Keith played "Before They Make Me Run" and "Thief In The Night" and for the first time I noticed that Leah Wood did backing vocals on "Before They Make Me Run".

Did she do that before?

And Pierre played on organ during "Thief".

"Out Of Control" was very strong that first night in Philly. It seemed to me that it’s still improving!

The center stage set did not come out very well, IMHO. "Route 66" and "When The Whip Comes Down" were not the best versions I’ve heard. "Midnight Rambler" sounded much better though.

Then, being on the main stage again, they played the well know last five songs: "Tumbling Dice", "It’s Only Rock’n’Roll" (I saw Leah Wood chasing some boy back stage; it seemed that they were playing hide-and-seek).

"Start Me Up" (Ronnie was playing so hard that he broke a string!), "Brown Sugar" and the encore "Sympathy For The Devil" (I still don’t like the horn part at the end of this song).

It was a very good show, although (IMHO) it wasn’t as good as the second D.C. show or the Pittsburgh show!

PHILLY II

Philadelphia second night, March 16th

This time I wasn’t as lucky as I had been before, concerning my seat. I was seated at the front row of the second level, where I had a wonderful view on the arena.

But the sound could have been better L

Apart from that it was one of the best shows (out of the five I saw). Even the audience was more enthusiastic than they were the night before.

The opener was "Jumping Jack Flash" as usual. And I must say (again) that this one of the best opening songs I’ve ever heard.

"Live With Me" was back as the second song. And once again they played "You Got Me Rocking" first and "Respectable" after that.

The fifth song they played was of course "Honky Tonk Women" and although I’ve heard this song so many times the last 30 years, this one sounded very good.

The Stones were very good this night. Like Mick Jagger said: "This is our second show and it will be even better than the first!" And it was...

Then a keyboard was placed at the edge of the stage and we were treated on a great version of "Fool To Cry". Awesome! Tim Reese backed up Mick on keyboard.

Again the audience loved "Saint Of Me and Paint It Black". "Some Girls" was in between those two and it wasn’t the best version I’ve heard so far this tour.

After the band introductions it was Keith’s turn. He did a great version of "You Got The Silver". Although I didn’t think it beat the Pittsburgh version (And I know that there are people who said this one was the better one!).

The second Keith song was "You Don’t Have To Mean It".

Then they played "Out Of Control" and this one sounded even better than the night before!

The center stage set was the best one I’ve heard so far. My seats was right next to the little stage so I had a very good view. Also the sound was great at this point. "Route 66" came out very well. I think it was the best version I’ve heard so far.

Of course I expected "Just My Imagination", but we were treated on a new song this tour: "Get Off Of My Cloud". Wow, this one sounded even better than back in ’76! Awesome!

"Midnight Rambler" was one of the best I’ve heard so far this tour. And what I noticed was that Charlie was really into it. Mick introduced him as "Charlie the basher", and he was!

Also the grand finale sounded great. Although I didn’t notice it, my friends told me that "Brown Sugar" and "Sympathy For The Devil" were even the best versions of the last five shows J .

What I did notice was that there were two guys who made it on the center stage. They were running around and dancing and it took a while before the security got them and threw them off! It was funny watching that! Maybe that’s what it meant by "No Security Tour" J

Well, that’s it for now folks.

I’d like to thank all the people who made this trip to America to some of the better moments in my life!

Special thanks to my dearest Anny, who let me go for so long and Skippy & Misty and "Uncle Fish" for hosting and guiding me the past two weeks.

Thanks friends!

See you all in Europe this Summer,
