Press
Conference
New York May 10th. 2005:
The press conference was held at the Julliard School of Music in the heart of
New York. It was a good choice for a place.
The press conference was a bit delayed because of different transmission
problems between the square and Ultrastar.
But it started up with a great Stones song, "Start Me Up", followed
by a new song from the 85% almost done new album, (still with no name), called
"Oh, No, Not You Again", a good new track from the album which sounds
promising for the future. Then the band gave their last song "Brown
Sugar".
After a long pause Michael Cohl went on stage for practic information about
the tour, which will take the band in first place throughout America in a
different way than last on the Licks tour.
The band will only do one show in each city, and therefore will come around
much more than usual.
Next year the band will start again in US from Jan. 7-Feb. 7 followed by
South America, Mexico, Puerto Rico tour first, followed by the Far East,
Australia, and possible China too, which they missed on the Licks tour. Then
from Summer 2006, it is Europe.
Tour ticket prices will be around 10% more expensive than they were on last
tour, due to different expenses.
Tour
is sponsored by Ameriquest Mortgage Company this time.
According to the press conference they did a lot of good cartoons, and they
hope they can develop these cartoons into the promotion of the tour.
A very interesting thing was the stage.
There are Two different stages, stadium stage will be special for room built
into stage for fans to actually sit "on stage"
The press asked several questions about rehearsals, the new album, tax
reasons and the latter were not well recieved by the band. Specially English
press have always been very interested in this from the band.
One serious thing being mentioned were, that on the question if Charlie is
doing his last tour, he replied yes loud and clear. The others seems to take a
tour at a time, and Mick said they do not want to call any tour the last, it
will only increase the ticket sales?!!!
They were all in a good mood, Ronnie did not say that much, Keith were jokin'
and Mick was really on this afternoon. Charlie were also open and positive to
the press people.

Pearl Jam, the John Mayer Trio, Black Eyed Peas and Maroon 5 are among the
first wave of acts confirmed to open shows on the Rolling Stones' upcoming On
Stage tour. Black Eyed Peas will open the tour's opening Aug. 21/23 stand at
Boston's Fenway Park, while Maroon 5 takes over for an Aug. 26 show in Hartford,
Conn., and an Aug. 31 date at Detroit's Comerica Park.
That group will be joined by the Tragically Hip for a Sept. 3 show in Moncton,
N.B., while Pearl Jam will open a Sept. 28 engagement in Pittsburgh, marking its
first appearance with the Stones since 1997.
PRESS
CONFERENCE
The of course well visited press conference, with a start (with problems for
the technically transmission to rollingstones.com) with three songs, to old ones
and one new it was great.
Michael Cohl took over and the leader of Julliard later on. Read more under
press conference.
What was known for a longer time was the the reply to a journalist, when
Charlie was asked if it was his last tour, and he replied a clear yes. The
others did not say it was a last tour, as they said they take a tour a time.
Also Mexico, South America, Puerto Rico will be included in the tour, and
next year Far East and later in the summer Europe will be visited on the tour.
Public sales starts from Saturday. Two new incredible stages, outdoor, and an
indoor.
