East Hartford-WTNH, Aug. 26, 2005 11:25 PM) Tens of thousands of Rolling Stones fans rocked Rentschler Field Friday night as the legendary band brought their concert extravaganza to Connecticut.
"They're the greatest rock and roll band ever" said one fan heading into the concert.
From Start Me Up to Jumpin' Jack Flash and other instantly recognizable classics, Mick Jagger and the rest of the Stones had fans on their feet.
Ticket holders started lining up as early as 3:30 p.m. for the evening show.
Though the concert was sold out, a few fast and lucky fans were able to buy tickets to the show at the last minute. Promotors offered up about 200 more seats a few hours before showtime because the elaborate seven-story stage didn't take up quite as much room as expected.
Len Davis of Hebron was one of those who snagged the last minute tickets. "My son heard on the radio that tickets had been released. I hopped on the Internet, called mom and said 'do you really want to go grocery shopping tonight.' She said no way, let's go to the Stones. So it cost me $500 to have an evening with my teen-age son, but it was worth it."
The Rolling Stones began their latest tour earlier this week in Boston. This was their only Connecticut
appearance.
