Me

Dear Fans, Sending
some sunshine your way
Here
is my fan report on the Stones in Belgium
- Opening of the new European starting in Belgium on the 5th of June
Some insight of what
happened before the show ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As some of you know
already I am a Stones Girl since I am 8 years old... Stones are part of my
life... My nickname is MalouKeefGirl... I am very happy to share with you, dear
fans from all over the place, some incredible experience – I would never have
thought that I could wait for hours to see my favourite rock stars but again it
is nice to do crazy things sometimes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nice weather in Belgium
so far but
it seems that we are going to have a storm, a big storm and even a bigger bang
shortly.. . yeah the Stones are back ...
The band landed in
individual private jets ... friday 25th of May at Zaventem international airport.
Top class Mercedes cars and dark windows vans drove the band and the crew
to their 5 stars hotel in the center of Brussels, avenue Louise. Only find out
myself on Sunday evening and together with my friend Sandra we decided on monday
as it is a bank holiday here in Belgium to go the Conrad Hotel where the band
and crew are staying until wednesday 6th june.
Brussels - Hotel
Conrad - Monday May 28th
We met at
3.30 pm monday afternoon and waited for the band to leave the hotel to go
to the rehearsing site in Vilvoorde. Only a few fans were there already waiting
with their cameras. Lots of security around the teams and the band. We are
harmless people just fans.

Daryl at
the Conrad Hotel in Brussels
We were finally very
lucky. Charlie got out but only waived to us. This is Charlie. We know what is
like. Debonaire. The band could not be without Charlie.
Bernard and Blondie
were nice to the crowd, only a small number so it was easier for us. They signed
autographs and we took pictures. Lovely Lisa turned up and talked to me for a
couple of minutes. Thanks Lady you are beautiful. Ronnie left the hotel and I
took pictures of him until a body guard pushed me out of the way. I was too
close to the car he said. OK.
Ronnie smiled at me. Yes I understand. Mick and Keith had left already by
another exit... Sandra and I were already happy and all we needed to do was to
find out where the rehearsing was happening to take our chance to see Mick and
Keith. Ok we got it – Luchthaavenlaan 22 in Vilvoorde, Video House... We
planned to come back on the thursday evening. They usually leave the video house
round 22.00 pm we heard. It turned to be much later than that.
Vilvoorde
near Brussels - Thursday May 31th
The band arrived all in
separate cars as well as the musicians and the team members, Lisa, Bernard, Tim,
Bobby, Blondie
Captain Igloo is here
to orchestra the all car show
I recognized Micks body
guard seen on 40 licks video. Funny looking chap. Pavarotti in smaller size....
The Security was high
but polite and ferm. Only one guy got trown out.
We managed to go round
the back of the building and heard part of the rehearsing until security guards
asked us to move away. The band open the door and Bobby got outside probably
thinking he was on his own to do what he had to do... Laughts and then got back
in. We
went back to the gate and waiting long hours until Mick turned up. After some
hesitation he walked to the gate with his body guard and security . He started
to give authographs, ignored my fanzine... Blondie had signed on it...

The
one with the white beard is our "Captain Igloo"
Oops... He signed
Sandra’s picture.
One young 17 years old girl got lucky, she was allowed to get signature
from the band inside the video house. Unfortunately she did not speak english.
Did not say much afterwards. She was almost in tears. Lucky,
Then Ronnie showed up.
It was early morning almost 2.00 am. We started singing Happy Birthday, he
stopped us and then made us start again.. chicky...He was very happy you could
tell. Then is asked the crowd “do you know how old I am” most people
answered 60... I said Ronnie you look 25... he moved towards me with a big smile
and said I was right and signed my StonesPlanet fanzine... yes Happy. The others
had left getting in their cars directly but waiving as the gate. I was sad, I
wanted to see Keith. Voila that was all for the day. Got home at 3.00
am...Probably the band continued celebrating at the Conrad but did not have the
courage to go back into Brussels city.
Vilvoorde
near Brussels - Friday June 1st.
At
the Video House in Vilvoorde in front of the press - thanks.
Keith
with us the fans...his fans.
Back in Vilvoorde in
the afternoon. This time rehearsing and Press day
4.00 pm the press
started to arrive, spanish, german, dutch,
then the local TVs, and radios showed up, even Belgian Prime Minister had
been invited as he is known to be a great Stones fan. Sandra did an interview
with the Spanish TV.. very nice.
The Press got a special
gift – live concert in prime... We were anxious but remained calm and patient.
Communication manager of the band came to see us on regular basis. He could not
believe that we could stand for hours just waiting to see the Stone for only a
few minutes and eventually get authographs and pictures. Security was watching.
They offered us cold drinks and coffee. Nice and thoughfull. A couple of guys
got caughts as they broke into the building and recorded the rehearsing. Police
showed up and crowd started to sing a Police song (Sting would have liked it) -
Excellent atmosphere among the fans, seen some old friends, met new ones. Then
our patience was rewarded, late night round 1.30am
Keith got out of the Video house. He walked towards the gate with
security and started to sign. I was shaking so much... Finally he was in front
of me, he took
the fanzine to sign it , smiled when I said it is for Blue Lena and I
received one of his picks ...for my guitar -
great so now I am going to play much better on my new guitar. Will play
HAPPY for sure. Went back home ...Could not sleep.
Vilvoorde near
Brussels - Saturday June 2nd
Unfortunately I did not
go to the site (should have) Sandra was there waiting for Keith.... with her hat
that Keith signed the night before. Waouhhh. She was maybe going to be the lucky
one of the day...
She kept me updated during the evening – she made a picture of her and
Keith, did not see that picture yet. So exciting. The band left shortly after
10.00pm
Rehearsals in
Vilvoorde is over
The band have now moved
out of their reherasals site at ilvoorde. After 8 days of
rehearals in a row night by night the break was a welcome time off for both
the band and the crew
Werchter not far from
Brussels - Sunday June 3rd
The Stones are
rehearsing - getting ready for the live concert...
I am out in Wallonia
with Marc my husband – triathlon competition for him, for me, my MP3
and the Stones just with me for a few hours, sitting in front of a beautiful
lake, resting before the storm
9.00 am Classic 21 boss
Marc Ysaye did it good - special
Ronnie Wood - then a meet and greet to win... I sent so many SMS. I am
sad, the winner did not sound to be a great and faithful fan - I would have
screamed my head off. He just said thank you.
- hope he enjoys meeting
the most fantastic rock band of the planet. In the late afternoon Classic
21 the best belgian radio (www.classic21.com)
offered us the interview made with Chuck Lavell - great nice and clean.
Wemmel near Brussels
